Pool for controls and disease related association studies
KORA-gen has been successfully used for population genetics, as pool for controls and for disease related association studies:
- Genetic studies have been performed comparing KORA with other populations from Germany and Europe.
- KORA has been used for more than 50 case control studies on cardiovascular diseases, obesity, type 2 diabetes, allergies, asthma, neurologic disorders, different forms of cancer, and rare mendelian diseases (see www.helmholtz-muenchen.de/kora-gen).
- In atopy studies several genes have been found to be associated with atopic diseases (NOD1, NOD2, STAT6, Chymase, Filaggrin).
